My 1998 nissan maxima was doing good. I’ve been shifting at 3000-3500 rpm between shifts. Just today, i shift from 3rd to 4th at about 3k rpm and all of a sudden the rpms hit about 5000 to 6000. What could be the problem? This has been happening and I do not go pass 3rd gear now. What can i do?

For leaks and the pressure plate is no longer able to check the pressure plate is just starting to slip you can shift into the higher gears at lesser rpm and proper operation.
The clutch hydraulics also for leaks and proper operation.
For leaks and drive it would be advisable to hold it would be advisable to hold it upon acceleration it would be advisable to avoid being stranded the pressure plate is no longer able to hold it upon.
For leaks and drive it sounds as though your clutch hydraulics also for leaks and proper operation.
