My 1998 nissan maxima was doing good. I’ve been shifting at 3000-3500 rpm between shifts. Just today, i shift from 3rd to 4th at about 3k rpm and all of a sudden the rpms hit about 5000 to 6000. What could be the problem? This has been happening and I do not go pass 3rd gear now. What can i do?

We officially leave Los Angeles for the Inside Line Ultimate GT-R Road Trip early tomorrow morning, so check back and follow along as we drive this all-wheel drive supercar 3000 miles in three days. First day’s destination? Well, we plan on hitting the El Mirage drylake for some top end runs. Then we’ll turn north and find our way to Sacramento Dragway for a Wednesday night of grudge match drag racing. We hope to get there about 5 pm. I Just brought a Nissan Altima 2006 with 50k miles, drive it the first day and behave just like new. The second day It didn’t start, i got only one key. I assumed the key is not working well, so it activates the inmobilization system that prevents the car to start. I wish somebody knows how to deactivate this system, so I get rid of the problem forever.

I am committed to purchasing a Nissan Altima. I really like this car and was excited to read about tax credits that may be available for purchasing a hybrid car, but I am still not convinced that the hybrid is a “better” car than a standard Altima. The cost differences that I’ve seen are in the $7k range. I am leaning towards 2009 models, but am willing to consider 2008 and 2010 models as well.
