RyanThomas asked:

The Nissan Middle East and Alhamrani United Company, the exclusive dealer of Nissan in the Saudi Arabia earlier supported the Janadriyah Festival, which is scheduled to happen during the second half of February.

The Janadriyah Festival delivers the richly hued cultural carpet of the territory. It is the country’s finest festival that flaunts Saudi Arabia’s captivating heritage - from distinct poetry, folk dances, luscious foods and camel races. The popular festival is now spiced up with Nissan’s heritage.

Among the many activities and attractions of the Janadriyah Festival, the automaker was allowed to display its product lines that range from high-performing pickups to riveting SUVs. Nissan offered its vehicles for test drives on the festival’s track, which was especially designed for that purpose.

Nissan’s heritage could be felt in Janadriya’s halls, outdoor activities and even in the camel race track. Aside from the on-road and off-road test drive, the presence of the automaker was manifest in various forms that include the majlis, a heritage gallery, lineup displays and several interactive activities for adults and children alike.

But the main attraction of the automaker’s participation in the festival was the test drive activity. The 90 X 90 square meter special track accommodated five pickups that were supervised by specialized marshals. How exciting and warm was the activity? Well, more than 3000 test drives were conducted through the whole duration of the festival so as to satisfy the craving of those interested for real Nissan adventure. Basically, the test drive was aimed at demonstrating the stance and power of Nissan’s next-generation vehicles.

Khalid Abdullah Al Harthy, the Marketing Communication Director of the Alhamrani United Company, pointed to a positive partnership with one of the most sought-after events in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Region equally. “Covering a gross exhibition of over 800 square meters, the heritage-like designed stand displayed the Saudis-most devoted to desert-akin 2007 vehicles such as Armada, Murano, Patrol, Pathfinder, and Pickups,” he said.

The Nissan Armada, which shares same F-Alpha platform with the Titan pickup, Xterra SUV, Frontier pickup and the Pathfinder SUV, is built in Canton, Mississippi. It features a V8 engine complemented by 5-speed automatic transmission. The SUV boasts a towing capacity of 9,100 lbs.

The Nissan Murano, a midsize crossover SUV, slots between the Xterra and the Pathfinder as the automaker’s top SUV until the launch of the Armada. The Murano is Nissan’s only CUV using the compact X-Trail and front-wheel drive features. To match the elegant Nissan headlight bulb, the CUV received some modifications in its LED tail lamps.

The Nissan Patrol, a four-wheel-drive vehicle from the automaker, is said to be entertaining a replacement. The said replacement is set to be introduced this year.

The 2008 Pathfinder, which received a facelift, was also given the powerful V8 that is capable of generating more than 300 horsepower to deliver a 7,000 lbs towing performance. The new vehicle also features sophisticated auto technology that covers new Navigation System with 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard drive, Intelligent Key, Bluetooth hands-free phone system and other fascinating features.

“We are very pleased with our partnership with the National Guard in this cultural festival, where Nissan was able to pay tribute to the community and enjoy its belonging and heritage in the Kingdom. We look forward to extending this partnership into long lasting activities aiming to entertain and educate the people on safe driving,” concluded Al Harthy.

Nissan Recalls 140,582 Altimas Because Air Filter May Ignite

Friday, November 21st, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 140,582 of its Altima cars for the model year 2007 because the air filter can catch fire if a hot object is drawn into it, the Japanese automaker said.

The recall of the automaker’s best-selling car in the United States affects Altima cars with a 2.5-liter, four- cylinder engine. This fact was reported to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration before the automaker began notifying owners July 3. The automaker added four fires were reported in February and March.

The filter will be replaced because it can ignite if something hot such as cigarette ash enters through the vehicle’s fresh-air intake valve, Nissan said. An air deflector also will be installed to prevent a buildup of debris at the filter.

The Altima accounted for 140,253, or 26 percent, of Nissan’s U.S. sales this year through June. The model was ninth in sales among all cars and light trucks in the U.S. during the period.

The recall affects Altimas built from Sept. 25 through May 11 at Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee plant; and from Oct. 30 through May 11 at its Canton, Mississippi, facility, the Japanese automaker told the federal safety agency. The vehicles are under warranty, the automaker added.

Tony Pearson, a spokesman for Nissan’s Nashville, Tennessee-based U.S. unit, declined to say how much the recall will cost the automaker. The Japanese automaker expects to notify all owners by Oct. 1, he said in an interview.

The fourth generation Altima was launched at the New York Auto Show on April 12, 2006. It is the first product line to use the smaller Nissan D platform, with a new front and upgraded rear suspension. The wheelbase is one inch shorter than the third generation Altima, but interior space is mostly unchanged. The Maxima and Murano will continue on the bigger FF-L platform.

The present generation Altima sports improved auto parts Nissan throttle body spacers, comfy accessories, and cutting-edge technology. It uses revised versions of the engines in the third generation model. The VQ35DE 3.5 L V6 engine produces 270 hp, and the QR25DE 2.5 L I4 generates 175 hp. A 6-speed manual is standard, and a continuously variable transmission replaces the traditional automatic as the optional transmission.

The Altima is the first product based on the new Nissan D platform, co-developed with Renault. The 2007 Altima also is equipped with advanced innovations in the market including the Bluetooth capability for cell phones, a standard ‘push-button start” also called ‘Renault Card,” and a parking camera. The current Altima is backed by the television commercial slogan which says: ‘Yup, it’s that good!’

The 2008 Altima coupe was released on May 25, 2007. It is designed to rival Honda Accord, Pontiac G6, and Toyota Camry Solara, The 2008 Altima Coupe, unveiled at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show, is Nissan’s first-ever two-door Altima. It has a shorter wheelbase and overall length as well as lower height than its sedan counterpart.

The 2008 Altima Coupe is available with two engines: the VQ35DE in the sedan, a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 or the QR25DE, a 175 hp 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder. The 4-cylinder version of the coupe has a base price of $20,490, while the 3.5-liter V6 will has a base price of $24,890.

For the model year 2007, Nissan entered an agreement with Toyota Motor Corp. to use some of its hybrid technology in the new Altima. The hybrid version of Altima, Nissan’s first hybrid car, features the QR25DE engine, CVT and electric motor. The automaker said the subsequent hybrid models will be based on in-house hybrid technology.

Nissan Barcelona Plant Installed With Solar Panels

Monday, November 17th, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

As car manufacturers strive to help in protecting the environment, different stages of car production are made to positively impact the environment. The third largest Japanese car manufacturer Nissan is one of the car manufacturers turning their assembly plants into environment friendly facilities. Recently, the company announced that they will be employing solar panels in their Barcelona assembly plant.

The company announced their Nissan Green Program 2010 last year and this step is part of that program. According to the car company, 606 solar panels will be used in the Barcelona assembly plant. These solar panels will cover about 3,000 square meters. All in all, these solar panels can generate 308,000 kWh of electricity annually. Aside from providing the facility with electricity, the use of solar panels can reduce the emission of carbon dioxide from the facility. According to Nissan, the use of the solar panels can reduce carbon dioxide emission by 110 tons every year.

As of today, 480 of the 660 solar panels are already in place. These solar panels are photovoltaic meaning they convert solar energy to electricity directly. The remaining solar panels are thermal ones which mean that they will be used to heat water for the plant and provide the heat needed in the painting process. These 126 thermal solar panels will be installed by the end of summer.

According to the car manufacturer, the Barcelona assembly plant is their second facility in Spain to use solar panels. This makes Nissan the only car company in the country which promotes the use of solar panels on their factories. Earlier this year, Nissan also announced that their Avila plant will also be installed with 732 solar panels. The use of those solar panels will result in cutting down 267 tons of carbon dioxide every year.

Aside from the use of solar panels in their factories, Nissan is also focusing on the recycling of end of life vehicles. Earlier this year, the company also announced that they have achieved their goals in terms of recycling.

What the company recycles are those residues of the shredding process that end of life vehicles undergo. Airbag components are also being recycled by the company as part of their environmental protection program known as the Nissan Green Program 2010.

In terms of the cars they offer in the global auto market, Nissan promotes the use of CVT or the continuously variable transmission. Almost all of the auto models introduced by Nissan in the market are now being offered with CVT to complement the fuel efficient engine with Nissan knock sensors and other fuel economy enhancing components. The continuously variable transmission provides fuel efficiency since it reduces power loss as the power of the engine runs through the transmission to the drive wheels. The reduced power loss means that the engine would burn relatively less fuel to compensate for the loss.

The company also announced that they are developing a three-liter car. This car is expected to run for a hundred kilometers on three liters of fuel. Aside from that, it seems that Nissan’s Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn has seen that the time is right for hybrid cars as Nissan is on its way to develop a hybrid vehicle of their own.

nissan
Mike Bartley asked:

The Nissan Mexicana earlier announced that it will unveil a new compact sedan to the Mexican market based on the Renault Logan. The upcoming sedan is set to go on sale in Mexico this summer.

The new vehicle will be built at the Renault of Brazil industrial complex in Curitiba. Further information about the upcoming vehicle, including its name, specifications and powertrain, will be announced later by the automaker. Nonetheless, the car is expected to have the distinct and trusted auto parts like the Nissan Exedy clutch kit, engines, suspension, radiator, brakes, and more.

Nissan’s new vehicle will form part of Mexicana’s compact car lineup that includes the Platina, Tiida and Tsuru sedan. The Platina is a supermini or subcompact which was originally launched in 1990. The car is inspired by Renault Clio with slight changes in the front of the car. The Nissan Tiida sedan, a compact car based on the B platform with stretched wheelbase, serves as replacement for both the Pulsar and the Sunny vehicles. Nissan Tsuru, a small car, was originally launched in 1966. The Tsuru is larger than the supermini but not as big as the Bluebird models.

To make Nissan Mexico lineup even more powerful, it will be adding up an interesting new compact car. The automaker is also strengthening its alliance with Renault. Importing the Renault-made Nissan vehicle to Mexico is another example of the possibilities and strength of the Renault Nissan Alliance in regard vehicle development. At present, the Renault Clio is built at the Nissan plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The Logan, sold in other markets under the Dacia and Renault brands, has established clear cut success in Eastern and Western Europe. The car recently was launched in India to boost Nissan’s lineup. Nissan to Increase Production

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

The threat of global warming and increasing prices of gasoline has affected the auto industry globally. Motorists once favoring bigger cars like sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks are now looking for smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles.

This demand for smaller vehicles has spurred the global auto industry to develop and produce more fuel efficient vehicles. In fact, a new breed of vehicles has been created solely for this demand - the crossover vehicles. Hybrid vehicles are also gaining a wide following in the auto market. In response to this, car manufacturers have stepped up their production of compact vehicles.

Nissan, the third largest Japanese car manufacturer, recently expressed their dedication to producing smaller cars by announcing that they will be increasing engine production at their Yokohama facility. The Asian brand announced that they will be allocating 6.4 billion yen by the end of 2007 in the said endeavor. It can be remembered that in 2006, the car manufacturer from the Orient has earmarked a sum of eleven billion yen as an investment in the expansion of their business both domestic and also abroad.

The allocated amount will be used to boost the engine production of the Nissan Yokohama plant. Currently, the engine can produce approximately 80,000 engines annually. With the investment, the facility is expected to produce 760,000 engines by the end of next year.

Aside from boosting the engine production, the allocated money will also be spent in developing a new generation of engines. Nissan aims to produce a new and cleaner engine since the demand for green cars have been steadily increasing in recent years. Currently, the Yokohama plant is producing engines used in different Nissan and Infiniti models. Minivans, sport utility vehicles, and smaller cars from Nissan and its luxury division are just some of the vehicles equipped with engines manufactured at the plant and these have been made so as to complement all other Nissan components like Nissan shocks.

The Nikkei, Japan’s leading business daily, reported that the planned increase in engine production is in connection with the increased automobile production overseas. In the United States, the demand for compact cars like the Nissan Versa has prompted the car manufacturer to increase production. The increased production of vehicles therefore needs engines and the investment in the Yokohama plant is expected to supply adequate engines.

Aside from the Versa, the Nissan Altima is also gaining ground in the U.S. auto market. The Altima remains as the top selling model of the Japanese brand. Hybrid vehicles are also being looked into as the future of fuel efficient vehicles and Nissan is one of the numerous car manufacturers to offer hybrid vehicles. A hybrid version of the Nissan Altima mid-size sedan is currently being offered by the company to its consumers in the United States.

Last month, the company’s sales figures show the increased demand for smaller vehicles. For the month of March, strong sales of the Versa, Altima, and the Infiniti G sedan boost the car manufacturer’s March sales by 8 percent compared to sales output in March 2006.
