RyanThomas asked:

Late this month, the Nissan Motors Co., Ltd. will unveil the latest addition to its family of global cars. The second variant of the Livina will be introduced at the Auto Shanghai 2007 from April 22 to 28 2007.

Livina, the second variant of the automaker’s new family of global cars, will not be camouflaged by a Nissan tonneau cover for a long time because it is set to go on sale in China late April. Then it will be offered to other global markets to boost the standing of the automaker in the worldwide auto sales realm.

The all-new Livina, a compact seven-seat minivan, is introduced by Nissan and its affiliate Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company at the Guangzhou International Motor Show on July 6, 2006. The vehicle is powered by the Nissan MR18DE engine and other efficient auto parts from the Japanese automaker.

According to the automaker, the Nissan Livina will be its first in a line of new global vehicles, and is the first Nissan vehicle to debut in China before being released in other countries. “In July 2006, Nissan announced plans to introduce a series of new cars for our key global markets, with a sales forecast of 200,000 units per year. This new family of global cars represents a substantial investment for Nissan,” said Nissan’s executive vice president Carlos Tavares. “We expect the Livina, our second new model in this family, to make a significant contribution to our business globally as it is expected to become a high-volume model,” he continued.

The first variant of the vehicle was unveiled by the automaker in China in November last year. The variant was based on the product concept of ‘active and high quality’, and the Livina was engineered to deliver a high-level of agility and ride comfort, with the most spacious interior for a vehicle in its class. The exterior of the vehicle features a bold and elegant styling while the well-equipped interior flaunts the neat and refined finish.

Same with other variants of the automaker in the family of global cars, the new Livina has been engineered to offer utmost comfort, safety and performance. The minivan, designed and engineered at the automaker’s Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan, is currently built on a Renault-Nissan Alliance platform.

Earlier, the PT Nissan Motor Indonesia unveiled the new Grand Livina in Jakarta. The Grand Livina, manufactured in a recently expanded and refurbished plant of NMI, is expected to contribute substantially to the sales of the automaker in Indonesia.

“The Grand Livina is an irrefutable example of Nissan’s commitment to our customers in Indonesia. With seven variants in two engine sizes, we expect the Grand Livina to be a popular choice for Indonesian customers. For 2007, we expect sales of this model to reach 12,000 units, out of our total domestic sales of 21,000 units,” intimated Nissan’s COO Toshiyuki Shiga, who is in charge with the Livina’s launch in Jakarta.

Nissan Celebrates Ten Years of Production in Decherd

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

RyanThomas asked:

Nissan North America reached a milestone recently when its powertrain assembly facility located in Decherd, Tennessee celebrated its tenth year of production. At the celebration of the decade long existence of the assembly facility, Nissan executives, state and local officials and the facilities’ employees gathered together.

The assembly facility started production on the 16th of May in 1997. From its humble beginnings, the factory is now currently being regarded as one of the biggest engine plants in all of Nissan’s facilities across the world. Currently, the facility has 1,200 employees who are tasked with assembling different engines for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The said facility produces 4-, 6-, and 8-cylinder engines. Aside from the engines produced for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles built in the United States, the assembly facility also produces small quantity of truck engines which are then delivered to a manufacturing facility in Barcelona, Spain.

In a year, the engine production facility can produce 950,000 engines and 1.1 million crankshaft forgings. Nissan though is still in the process of expanding this facility as it plans to task the facility with producing cylinder block castings by the spring of 2008. Other Nissan parts such as Nissan engine mounts, suspension assembly and the likes are manufactured in other facilities.

Bill Krueger, the NNA Senior Vice-President of Manufacturing, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management for the Americas, has this to say: “Throughout its 10-year history, the Decherd Plant has proven that it’s a world-class operation capable of producing award-winning products. The Decherd team has good reason to be proud of their accomplishments today. The growth of this plant has been based on a solid reputation for high quality work and proven capabilities. As we celebrate a history of achievement, we also look forward to what the future will bring as we compete in the global marketplace.”

Also present at the celebration is Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen who lauded the efforts of the plant workers and the positive impact of the facility to the State of Tennessee said: “This plant not only makes engines, but it is itself an economic engine in our state’s economy. Nissan and its employees in Decherd and throughout the state have been a driving force in the development of Tennessee’s automotive sector. I congratulate the entire Decherd team on 10 years of consistent growth.”

The facility first made it to the headlines when Nissan announced that they will be putting up an engine plant in Decherd. The announcement came on the 18th of January in 1991. Four years after the announcement, construction of the facility started on March 1995. Nissan invested $30 million for the original plants which occupies an area of 100,000 square feet. Currently, the facility is estimated to be worth $683 million. Throughout the ten years since its opening, the plant has been expended to increase production and it now occupies 1.2 million square foot of land area in Decherd. From its opening until today, it is reported that more than 3.8 million engines have already been produced at the said facility.

One of the most notable engines produced by the plant is the award-winning 3.5-liter VQ V6 engine. The said powerplant is the only engine to be named as one of Ward’s “Ten Best Engines” since the list was first introduced.

Efficient Nissan Maxima Parts Complete a Maxima

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008
nissan
Glady Reign asked:

The Japanese car company, Nissan, has been around since 1934. But it wasn’t until 1958 when Nissan featured some of their cars at the Los Angeles auto show. The company then formed a U.S. Subsidiary the following year. By improving their vehicles, they gained success in the market and became one of the world’s largest exporters of automobiles. Nissan formerly marketed vehicles under the Datsun brand name.

Continuous improvements were implemented on their vehicles such as the Nissan Maxima which debuted in 1976. Maxima went through a lot of changes, characterized by enhancements in Nissan Maxima parts in each and every single generational model of the Nissan Maxima. The Maxima model began with the Nissan Bluebird Maxima, which was available in the US as Datsun 810 from February 1977. It offered two types of engine, a 2.0 L displacement for the Japanese market and a 2.4 L for the US market. The vehicle used a carburetor for the base model and fuel injection for the sporty version. The sporty version channeled power through a five speed manual transmission. These cars were rear-wheel drive and had a semi-trailing arm rear suspension. In the first Maxima, Nissan also offered a 2-door coupe version in 1979. It featured some new Nissan Maxima parts, but it was most notable for its fresh exterior.

The latest Maxima is far from the first one. It has some great Nissan Maxima parts like the V6 engine that can produce 265 horsepower though. Nissan’s current engine in the Maxima is one of the great innovations of the company. In fact, it consistently received Wards 10 Best Engines award every year since the competition’s inception in 1995. There were also other Nissan Maxima parts such as auto accessories that contributed to the vehicle’s performance. Presently, the new Maxima comes equipped with a Xtronic CVT or what is mostly known as the continuously variable transmission. It’s a transmission wherein the ratio of the rotational speeds of two shafts can be varied continuously within a given range. This can provide an infinite number of possible ratios for motorists on the road.

Nissan Debuts New Mini Wagon

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

The Nissan Motor Co. launched a new mini wagon in Japan last Thursday in an effort to beef up its Japan lineup. The Japanese automaker is exerting efforts to return to solid overall sales growth.

Nissan, the third largest Japanese automaker, is a newcomer to the domestic mini vehicle market. The company lost business to its rivals because of its insufficient lineup, Toshiyuki Shiga, the Nissan Chief Operating Officer, said at a press conference.

The automaker posted a profit decline last fiscal year for the first time in seven years as sales in the America and Japan plummeted. “We’d like to stop our customers from moving” to rivals by adding the new Clipper Rio mini wagon, Shiga said.

Nissan, 44 percent owned by Renault SA of France, aims for annual sales of 4,000 vehicles of the car, the company’s first mini wagon model. The new Clipper Rio mini-wagon built by the Mitsubishi Motors Corp. for sale under the Nissan brand and will provide two other automakers with its remodeled light-duty truck for sales under their nameplates. Other mini wagons include the Moco, Clipper Truck/Van, Otti and Pino. As a “one-box” mini-wagon, the Clipper Rio is designed to meet an expanded range of usage possibilities, Nissan said.

Mitsubishi will produce the Clipper Rio for Nissan by sales volume. Nissan consigns all of its mini vehicle production to Mitsubishi and the Suzuki Motor Corp. The Clipper Rio is the fifth mini vehicle manufactured by another automaker to be launched by Nissan under what is dubbed the original equipment manufacturing deal.

Nissan, which does not build mini vehicles, has already launched two other mini vehicles from Mitsubishi and another two from Suzuki.

The Clipper Rio is available in a wide range of model variations to meet the changing preferences of auto shoppers. Aside from traditional auto parts like the Nissan oxygen sensor, powerful engines, chic amenities, the mini wagon is also equipped with personal chair cab ramp.

The mini wagon also offers extra luggage space, an oversize rear door for easy cargo loading and unloading, flexible seating and the responsive performance of an advanced intercooled turbo engine. Assist grips and door steps are provided for easy entry/exit by smaller adults and children and the rear door features an assist strap for easy closing. The Clipper Rio is available in four attractive body colors: black pearl, medium blue pearl, cool silver metallic and white. Prices of the new mini wagon range from 1,254,750 yen to 1,682,100 yen.

Additionally, the third largest Japanese automaker will commence sales of the redesigned Atlas F24 light-duty truck and will supply the vehicle to Isuzu Motors Ltd. and the Nissan Diesel Motor Co. for sales under their respective brands.

Japanese automakers have taken advantage of OEM deals to expand their vehicle lineups without increasing development costs or production volumes. Suzuki has provided mini vehicles to the Mazda Motor Corp. as well as to Nissan. Its mini vehicle production under OEM deals in the year to March jumped 23.2 per cent from the previous year to a new high of 134,000 units, helping its plants to operate at full capacity.

According to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, sales of mini cars - vehicles with engine capacities of 660 cubic centimeters or less - reached a record 2.02 million in 2006 and are expected to remain near this level in 2007.

Nissan’s North American operations are based in Nashville and the automaker has U.S. plants in Smyrna, Decherd and in Canton, Mississippi. The Japanese automaker is struggling to compete closely with both the domestic and foreign auto manufacturers by launching more cars and campaigns to bolster the goal.

Why does my 1993 Nissan Altima speedometer goes back and forth?

Friday, October 10th, 2008
nissan
jt1qc asked:

I have a 1993 Nissan Altima. When I start the vehicle, the speedometer starts slowly going up, even while I am still in park position. Even at drive, it still goes up slowly. After hitting 100-120 mph mark, it then slowly goes back down again, no matter if I am in park, reverse, or drive. But it does not slowly goes back to 0 mark. It went back to 40 mph mark, and goes back up again. Strange?! Any help is appreciated.

How to get out of Nissan with electric locks when battery is dead?

Saturday, October 4th, 2008
nissan
Mike D asked:

How do you get out of a Nissan Xterra when you’re locked inside with a dead battery? It has electric locks and no button to pull up.
Sorry, those two first answers won’t work. The handle doesn’t work if there is no battery….
We had to wait for a tow truck to arrive to unlock the doors from the outside. There must be a way to unlock them from the inside in an emergency….
