RyanThomas asked:

Japan’s third largest car manufacturer recently announced sales figures for the past month. Nissan recently reported that it has sold 93,062 cars and light trucks in the North American auto market last month. That sales output represents an increase of 3.2 percent as compared to May of 2006. The Nissan Division posted an increase in sale by 2.9 percent as compared to last year. The company’s luxury division Infiniti posted an increase of 5.6 percent in sales.

The Nissan Division sold 82,314 cars and light trucks last month, 2.9 percent more than the 76,881 vehicles sold by the division in North America last year. Year to date sale though for the division reflected a decrease of 0.3 percent. For the first five months of this year, Nissan has already sold 389,929 vehicles.

Among the cars in the Nissan Division’s lineup, the Altima is the best seller. Far the month of May, Nissan North America sold 23,980 units of the Altima, signifying a 4.9 percent increase in sales. Last year, for the same month, Nissan sold 21,981 units of the midsize car. Year to date sale for the Altima is up by 10.3 percent as compared to last year. Through the first five months of the year, Nissan has already sold 114,318 units of the Altima and that is higher than the 102,785 Altimas sold from January to May last year.

As for light trucks in Nissan Division’s lineup, the Murano is the best-selling truck model. Last month, Nissan sold 6,473 units of the near-luxury midsize crossover SUV. While the Murano is the best-selling truck model, it suffered from a reduced sale by 6.6 percent. In fact, all trucks across Nissan Division’s lineup posted reduced sale. Last year, during the month of May, Nissan sold 6,662 units of the Nissan headlight cover-equipped Nissan Muranos. Year to date sale for trucks in the Nissan Division’s lineup is down by 12 percent compared to last year.

The Infiniti Division, on the other hand, sold 10,478 cars and light trucks in North America last month. Last year, Infiniti managed to deliver 9,786 vehicles which mean that they have sold 5.6 percent more vehicles this year. Year to date sale is up by 8.7 percent. From January to May last year, Infiniti sold 48,591 vehicles while for the first five months this year, Infiniti has already sold 53,238 vehicles.

The G Sedan remains as the best-selling car in Infiniti’s lineup. Last month, Nissan reported that they have sold 5,007 units of the Infiniti G sedan. Last year, the company sold 2,800 units of the luxury sedan which means that they have sold 71.9 percent more G sedans this year compared to last year. Year to date sale for the G sedan is up by 64.5 percent as there have already been 53,238 G sedans delivered to consumers for the first five months this year. Last year, from January to May, Nissan only sold 14,969 units of the said model.

Total trucks sale for the Infiniti division is reported to be at 2,867 units and that number is 1.1 percent less than the 2,788 Infiniti trucks which were sold last year. Year to date sale for Infiniti trucks is also down. Nissan reported that 13,216 Infiniti trucks have been sold for this year until the month of May, 2.6 percent less than last year’s 13,463 units sold for the first five months.

Price for New 2007 Nissan 350z Announced

Monday, June 23rd, 2008
nissan
Correy Putton asked:

Who does not know what the Nissan 350Z is? After all, it is that vehicle that has been produced, manufactured, and marketed as both a coupe and as a roadster. And yes, its design and its aura simply just emanates power and beauty so much so that you have no doubt that know you are looking at a Nissan 350Z when you see one.

Clad in the most updated and coolest Nissan parts the first time it went on sale back in August of 2002 the Nissan 350Z became one of the automotive industry’s favorites. And when it first soared through the streets, this vehicle was actually already part of the Nissan Z-car line’s fifth generation of vehicles.

At present, the company has already announced the most recent price tags for the newest versions of the Nissan 350Z. Of course and as expected, there would be two different price tags – one would be for the 2007 version of the Nissan 350Z as a coupe and the other one would be the recent model year’s version for the Nissan 350Z roadster. Both vehicles did receive their own share of enhancements and upgrades. And for people who love power and who love to zoom through the roads and the streets, they would most likely be very excited about the new engine that both vehicles would be holding. The new engine is a powerful 3.5 liter V6 engine.

Aside from the new engine, both versions of the Nissan 350Z would be coming with its front ends changed. Plus, the Coupe Touring version and the Grand Touring version of the model would be sporting off a Bluetooth® Hands Free Phone System as part of its standard features. The controls for the phone system has already been integrated well into the steering wheel for better access and for ease of use.

Compared to last year, the all versions of the 2007 Nissan 350Z would be having an additional $250 on its MSRP. However, the Nissan 350Z Roadster Enthusiast model has been excluded from the increase of $250 but it would be experiencing an added $500 to its price tag. All versions of the vehicle model would be coming with side impact supplemental air bags that are mounted on the front seats. These air bags are now offered as standard features instead of just optional ones.

Bill Bosley, Nissan’s general manager as well as vice president, shares, “The Nissan Z® has built a tradition of exciting performance and outstanding value for 37 years now. This newest iteration, with its more powerful VQ series V6, epitomizes the innovation and continuous improvement that has defined that Z®’s success since its introduction in 1970.”

Nissan, Ready For 2007

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008
nissan
Joe Thompson asked:

The Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. is now ready to take on the coming year. It has already set out a list of vehicles that it would be setting off in the auto market. And the whole Nissan line up of vehicles is sure quite something to look through. With auto parts for a Nissan vehicle quite plenty in the market, interested parties need not worry about any replacement parts or Nissan accessories if they are going to purchase a Nissan car, truck, or SUV for their own.

For 2007, the Nissan line of vehicles includes the new Nissan Versa. Aside from this, you would find other Nissan vehicles like the Nissan Altima and Sentra in the line up. You can also find the Nissan Maxima, and Quest in the list.

The Nissan Altima would be available for 2007 and this time around, it would already be in its fourth generation. The 2007 Nissan Altima has been redesigned and it comes available with the new Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT. This would also be having a new and restyled platform for better and improved body rigidity.

Entering the sixth generation, the 2007 Nissan Maxima would now be sporting off a restyled exterior. As per its interior, you can most certainly find it very refined. A pack of high technology made for the next generation has also been added in the vehicle. What makes the 2007 Nissan Maxima quite different this year is that it is much more sporty and luxurious at the same time.

As per the Nissan Sentra of 2007, this car offers style along with quality, and optimum performance. Owners would most surely find an abundance of space with this vehicle. Sure enough, Nissan has made certain that this popular car from the company would remain to be one of the topnotch choices of consumers in the auto market.

These are just a few of the vehicles that Nissan has to offer for 2007. The list of 2007 Nissan vehicles include the 2007 Nissan Versa which has been created so as to set standards and not compromise the features that it has with the norms of the auto world. You also can find the Nissan Quest, the Titan King Cab, Titan Crew Cab, Nissan Armada, Frontier King Cab, Frontier Crew Cab, the Pathfinder, the Xterra, Murano, and the 350Z coupe and roadster included in the list.

Nissan to Restore Tier 1 Market in Thailand

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008
nissan
Correy Putton asked:

Japan’s Nissan Motor Company launched a new pickup truck called the Frontier Navada in Thailand. The truck was set forth with high hopes and with an aim: to increase sales in the country to 55,000 units in the 2007-2008 business year and help it catch up with rivals.

“Our strategy is to restore the Nissan brand to the Tier 1 market in Thailand by 2009 alongside Toyota and Honda, partly through the introduction of more new products,” Thierry Viadieu, the president of local unit Siam Nissan Automobile Co., told reporters in the Thai capital.

The automaker expects the new pickup truck to sell 40,000 units in the business year starting in April, exceeding its total sales that include passenger cars. Nissan, held 44 per cent by France’s Renault SA, intends to start exports of the locally produced Frontier Navara for the first time in the third quarter of this year. Nissan’s spokeswoman in Tokyo also divulged this information.

The Nissan Frontier Navara uses upgraded parts for Nissan to improve its performance and capabilities. The Navara’s existence could be traced since 1986. The automaker was the pioneer in the compact pickup truck segment and industry. Nissan has started truck manufacturing in 1959. The aftermath of the venture is the Nissan Frontier. The Frontier was introduced in 1997 for the 1998 model year as a replacement for the aging 1986. Toyota followed the truck manufacture in the 1960s.

Where Toyota Motor Corp. and Isuzu Motors Ltd. are profitably selling in Thailand, Nissan is deemed a laggard. In addition, Toyota and Isuzu seize approximately four-fifths of the pickup market. Nissan vehicles, on the other hand, accounted for just 4.5 per cent of the total Thai vehicle market in 2006.

Viadieu added that 2007 was a “critical” year in which Nissan hoped to raise its market share to 8 per cent in Thailand. He also said the automaker would beef up its Thai dealership network and offer better financing packages through its wholly-owned unit - Nissan Leasing Thailand. The latter started business ventures last year.

With the downturn in Thailand, Nissan intends to make better this year and in the next years to come. It is eager to put up a tough battle with auto giants in the territory to achieve its targets under a 3-year plan that runs until March 2008.

It can be recalled that the automaker in 2004, announced its plan to sell 130,000 units over the 2005-2007 business years, the launch of 8 to 9 new models, and a ramp-up in local production capacity to 200,000 units a year. Nissan is now powered to manufacture 46,000 vehicles every year. A new 3-year plan for 2008-2010 is due to be announced in July, the spokesperson of the automaker added.

From its very first truck manufacture, the automaker is famed for its notable Nissan truck parts. These advanced auto parts paved way for the introduction of Nissan’s firsts in the compact pickup truck market including the first extended cab bodystyle in the 1979 Nissan King Cab, and the first crew cab bodystyle compact pickup in the D22 Navara.

Since 1986, Nissan has created 3 generations of the Navara. The first generation was the D21, a small pickup. The second generation of the Nissan Navara came a decade after D21 existence. The Nissan Navara D22, a compact pickup, was manufactured from 1998 and went until 2005. The second generation Navara was replaced by bigger, taller, longer D40 – a midsize pickup truck.

Cr-v, Watch Out for the Nissan Rogue

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008
nissan
Sarah Mcbride asked:

Should the Honda CR-V be on the verge of extinction? Or should the Honda CR-V doubt the new claims that there is going to be a vehicle that would be taking its popularity and market share?

Nissan is going to send out a new vehicle at the 2007 North American International Auto Show and the company calls it the 2008 Nissan Rouge. The company also does claim that this new one is going to make the Honda CR-V run for shelter when it comes in. After all, according to Nissan, they named the vehicle the Rouge for it actually is meant to show “its independence oriented positioning.”

In the Nissan range, there are already four sport utilities in its range. However, the company chose to create a new one which would be having its own share of Nissan auto parts. The main difference that the Nissan Rouge would be having is that it has been designed to have taken a side towards sophistication compared to all other Nissan SUVs. In fact, Nissan’s general manager, Bill Bosley, explains, “The Rogue’s utility is a little more stealthy. All the necessary compartments and storage spaces are there; they just don’t scream ‘utility’ at you.”

People who were already able to take a peep at what the 2008 Nissan Rouge really has to offer were quite surprised to find that the vehicle looks so much like the Hyundai Santa Fe. It has got a length of 182.9 inches and is based on 105.9 inches of wheelbase. It may be quite smaller that the Hyundai vehicle but it just does look almost alike. Compared to the Honda CR-V though, the Nissan Rouge is much larger. Although larger does not necessarily equate to more space and more functionality.

The Nissan Rouge would be available for the public to purchase come the fall of 2007 and Nissan says that it would be having a price of $20,000 as the base. There are options which interested parties can choose to add but of course, that would mean additional fees. But still, Nissan estimates that a complete vehicle with all the trimmings would amount to around $25,000.

Nissan’s Green Program 2010

Thursday, June 19th, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

As the global community become increasingly aware of the global warming threat, the auto industry is hard at work to develop new technologies to be used on automobiles to make them more environments friendly. Nissan, the third largest Japanese car manufacturer, has already taken steps to help protect the environment. The company has released its Green Program which covers the steps they will take until the end of this decade. While the said program was announced last year, this year saw the company taking the necessary steps to achieve their goal.

One of the developments being pursued by Nissan is the production of a three-liter vehicle. The number means not the displacement of the car’s internal combustion engine but the amount of fuel it will consume for every 100 kilometers. If Nissan can succeed to produce a car with fuel efficiency as that, they would pull in front of both Honda and Toyota in terms of fuel efficiency.

Converted to gas mileage, the proposed car will have a rating of a little more than 94 mpg. This may be an ambitious plan but Nissan has proven that they have what it takes to develop advanced technologies for their vehicles. While there is not a word yet from Nissan as to how the development of the three-liter car is going, the auto industry is waiting eagerly for the result.

With gas mileage such as that, even the fuel miser hybrid vehicles will be left far behind. The class leading Toyota Prius has a gas mileage rating of 51 mpg for city driving and 60 mpg for highway driving according to the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA. Even if that rating is true in real-world driving, it still falls short of the 94 mpg that the three-liter car will have. Aside from the three-liter vehicle, Nissan is also planning to add more flex-fuel vehicles to their current lineup. These vehicles will be able to run not only on gasoline but also on E85 - a combination of gasoline and bio-ethanol. Currently, most of Nissan’s flex-fuel vehicles are designed to run on E10, a fuel composed of ten percent bio-ethanol and 90 percent gasoline.

One Nissan vehicle already being sold in the United States auto market capable of running on 85 percent bio-ethanol is the Nissan Armada. In Brazil where bio-ethanol is abundant, Nissan will be marketing a vehicle which will be able to run on 100 percent bio-ethanol, eliminating its dependence on fossil fuels. In the United States, it would take a longer time for a Nissan vehicle capable of running on 100 percent bio-ethanol to be marketed. The reason for this is the scarcity of refilling station in the United States which offers bio-ethanol. In fact, this lack of refilling station is seen as a big problem for flex-fuel vehicles in the U.S. In fact, a recent study shows that 99 percent of flex-fuel vehicles on America’s road run on gasoline which beats the purpose of the vehicle.

Nissan is also committed to the development of technologies which will reduce carbon dioxide emissions. One of the technologies being used by Nissan to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by their vehicles is the continuously variable transmission (CVT). This gearbox provides an almost infinite number of gear ratios between two preset gear ratios. This means that less power is wasted which translates to better fuel economy. Reduced amount of fuel being burned means lower greenhouse gas produced. The company also uses different exhaust gas filter s which treats the emission to make it safe for the environment in its route from the combustion chamber to the Nissan exhaust pipes.

Another technology being considered by the Japanese car manufacturer is the gas electric hybrid technology. While Nissan Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn has expressed that hybrids are still impractical to both consumers and manufacturers, the company has already released a hybrid version of the Nissan Altima in the United States auto market. The powertrain used by the Altima hybrid is sourced from an independent supplier. Nissan is already developing a hybrid powertrain of their own and has announced that they will make it available in the market by the year 2010.

Further proof of Nissan’s commitment to the production of green cars is the opening of their new technology center in Japan. The said facility located in Atsugi at the Kanagawa Prefecture is where Nissan is developing advanced lithium-ion battery packs. The said battery technology will be use on their future hybrid vehicles. The said battery packs are lighter and more powerful than the current nickel-metal hydride battery packs that are used by hybrid vehicles. The former can also be used on fuel-cell vehicles although Nissan has not yet expressed their intention to build one. Ghosn said that diesel and flex-fuel vehicles are the most practical alternative fuel technology today.

High Quality Nissan Altima Parts

Thursday, June 19th, 2008
nissan
Glady Reign asked:

The Japanese automaker, Nissan has been producing high quality cars since 1934. They have shown their success as one of the top three Asian rivals of the “big three” in the U.S. In fact, they are presently the third largest Japanese car manufacturer. The success could not have been possible if not for Nissan vehicles such as the Altima. Top-of-the line Nissan Altima parts make sure that the vehicle performs efficiently. The Nissan Altima is a mid-size car often attributed as the next generational model of the Nissan Bluebird in 1957. The name Altima was initially a trim line of the Nissan Laurel mid-size car sold in the Caribbean before 1992. By 1993, the Altima was introduced as entirely a new Nissan model. Nissan Altima parts are continuously being developed evident in the four designs in the generational models of 1993-1997, 1998-2001, 2002-2006 and 2007-present.

The current model of the Altima had a few modifications implements on a number of its Nissan Altima parts. Some of these include the new and upgraded front as well as rear suspension. The 3.5 liter V6 engine under the hood, capable of producing 270 horsepower, is also part of the package. It also has various great Nissan Altima parts accessories and houses, most probably influenced by latest technological trends: the push-button start, bluetooth capability for cell phones and parking camera. An Altima coupe was also introduced later on. It was said to be Nissan’s first two-door Altima ever. It featured newer Nissan Altima parts like a shorter wheelbase, shorter overall length and lower height than the Altima Sedan. The coupe version was offered in two engines. One is a a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 engine. The other is a a 175-horsepower 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine.

The Altima model was also used as the base model for Nissan’s first hybrid car. Nissan had an agreement with a rival company by using its hybrid technology. The hybrid version of Nissan Altima has a 2.5 liter engine, CVT and an electric motor. It also boasts fuel efficiency of 42 mpg in city driving and 36 on the highway.

Nissan to Build Plant in Russia

Sunday, June 15th, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

The Nissan Motor Co., Japan’s second-largest automaker, will start building its $200 million-worth auto plant in St. Petersburg on the 24th of this month. The announcement was made by the automaker after signing a deal with Russia’s Economy Ministry in the previous year.

“A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on June 24,” Nissan said in a statement. At its first Russian plant, the Japanese automaker plans to manufacture 50,000 cars annually by 2009. Nissan decline to specify which models will be produced in the plant. It will be announced by the automaker at a later date.

One of Russia’s Economy Ministry officials earlier divulged it would be the Almera and X-Trail. Nissan chief executive Carlos Ghosn said last year that he envisaged three models being produced at the plant. The Ford Motor Co. already has a plant near St. Petersburg and the Toyota Motor Corp. and the General Motors Corp. are now building plants in the said territory.

Additionally, Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corp. and trading house Itochu Corp. are expected to sign a memorandum on building a car plant in St. Petersburg with Russia’s Economy Ministry on the eighth of this month.

Nissan Almera, a small family car that is based on the MS-Platform, was designed to offer accurate handling, good tyre grip and minimal bodyroll. The second generation of the car, introduced in early 2000, features well designed curves and lines. In Nopvember 2006, the car finished production to pave the way for the Tiida. The latter was launched in Europe last month. The British version of the car will be dubbed as the Versa.

The X-Trail, meanwhile, is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker in 2001. It was Nissan’s very first crossover SUV that uses the FF-S platform. The new product line was released at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show in March to rival the Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute, Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Pontiac Aztek. The X-Trail is sold in Africa, Australia, Canada, Europe, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Thailand, and Taiwan. The 2008 Nissan X-Trail will go on sale in Europe this summer.

The X-Trail using the new Nissan/Renault Alliance C-platform is made bigger and longer. It features a Nissan hubcap, active headrests, powerful engines, and various cosmetic and engineering changes. Nissan is currently offering a hydrogen fuel cell model named the X-Trail FCV on lease to businesses.

Separately, Nissan’s good standing in the industry is recognized by other auto dealerships. “Jaguar is a niche, not volume franchise and Lincoln-Mercury used to be a volume franchise, but not so much anymore,” said Bill Steinmetz, the president and partner of the Miller Automobile Corp., also called the Darien Automotive Group, which owns the Jaguar dealership at 1335 Post Road.

“Nissan is more of a buying franchise… all the way up to its luxury vehicles. And with gas prices, Nissan cars are more fuel efficient, and therefore, buyer-friendly,” Steinmetz said. Right now, he is happy to be test driving his new fleet of Nissans. Steinmetz drove the Murano Pathfinder, Altima and Frontier. The Titan and the Versa are next on his list. “I’m driving a different one all the time,” Steinmetz said. “I get a feel for them and see how they do. That’s the fun part of the job.”

It is also fun to offer new product lines. He said that the dealership has already sold quite a few Nissans. “We’ve been doing pretty well with it,” Steinmetz said. “This is a great location for Nissan and the car has a lot of appeal in this market. It has something for everybody.”

Can a missing EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve affect how well my 98 Nissan Maxima starts?

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

max asked:

My 98 Nissan Maxima has been giving me trouble starting. If it’s the first time I use it in the day, the engine takes quite awhile to turn.

I know the EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve of my Nissan needs to be replaced, but my mechanic says that that part should have nothing to do with how well my car starts. Could this be the reason for the poor starting or should I keep looking?
