Nissan has announced the pricing of Titan and Armada, two of its latest vehicles for 2008.

Prices for the 2008 Nissan Titan start at $23,700 for Titan 2WD King Cab XE standard bed and $26,550 for Titan 2WD Crew Cab XE standard bed. The price of 4WD King Cab XE standard bed starts at $26,900, while the 4WD Crew Cab XE standard bed is $29,750. Titan PRO-4X models are priced at $31,450 for the King Cab and $33,950 for the Crew Cab standard bed models.

Prices for the 2008 Nissan Armada start at $35,250 for the Armada 4×2 SE and $41,750 for the Armada 4×2 LE. Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) editions of the same models are offered at no additional cost in selected markets. Prices for the four-wheel drive Armadas begin at $38,050 for the Armada 4×4 SE and $44,550 for the Armada 4×4 LE. As with the 2WD models, Flexible Fuel Vehicle versions are available at no additional cost in selected markets.

First launched in 2004, the Nissan Titan pickup lineup expands for 2008 with the addition of two new long bed configurations. Added to this is a new PRO-4X grade, which is available in both King Cab and Crew Cab 4-wheel drive standard bed configurations. Also, the 2008 Titan features renewed front styling with a new grille and light design, a redesigned brake system with larger front rotors, a variety of interior and technology enhancements and larger standard wheel sizes including 20-inch alloy wheels on Titan LE models. Titan LE models have several new standard equipments. These include XM satellite radio, Bluetooth hands-free phone system and a wood appearance trim.

Titan is now available in two body styles: the King Cab and Crew Cab. Both are in 4×2 and 4×4 drive configurations. Both have four bed sizes, each measuring 5-feet 6-inches, 6-feet 6-inches, 7-feet 3-inches and 8-feet 2-inches. The two styles come with Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) capability E85 Ethanol in selected markets.

The 2008 Titan is based on Nissan’s rugged F-Alpha pickup platform. It features a 5.6-liter DOHC Endurance V8 rated at 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft torque. Titan features a standard 5-speed automatic transmission and a maximum towing capacity of up to 9,500 pounds for King Cab and 9,400 pounds for Crew Cab when properly equipped.

The car also has a heated leather-appointed bench seat and larger, and an 8.0-inch DVD screen.

The 2008 Nissan Armada is offered in eight models, each equipped with standard 5.6-liter Endurance V8 and 5-speed automatic transmission. All have well enhanced Nissan truck accessories.

The major enhancements to Armada for 2008 include a new concept in the front, new headlight and fog light designs, new one-piece roof rack design, revised rear fascia and an available 20-inch wheel and Michelin tire package.

The interior of the 2008 Armada has an available power folding 60/40 3rd row seat, new colors and fabrics, new gated shifter, new wood grain accents, available heated steering wheel, a locking glove compartment, a revised steering wheel, and a combined meter illumination.

Armada technology enhancements include an Intelligent Key with twist start, enhanced Bose sound system with 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard drive and 3rd row speakers and amplifier, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, improved available Nissan Navigation system with an XM Navigation Traffic system with real-time traffic information, a standard integrated 7.0-inch color information monitor and a larger 8.0-inch screen for the optional DVD Entertainment Package. The XM Navigation Traffic system, however, requires an XM contract.

The car’s strength comes from a 5.6-liter V8 producing 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque, with available FFV technology in selected markets. This allows drivers to use traditional gasoline or an alternative fuel such as E85, a mixture containing 85 percent renewable ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.

Every 2008 Armada also comes with standard three-row, eight-passenger seating, ample 2nd row leg room, roof-mounted curtain air bags for all three rows, and up to 9,100-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped.

Earlier Armada models have been awarded with top honors in two customer opinion-based studies: the “Buyer-Perceived Overall Quality” by the Strategic Vision research firm in the Large SUV class of its 2006 Total Quality Index, and “Most Appealing Large Premium Multi-Activity Vehicle” by J.D. Power and Associates’ 2006 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study.

Nissan CEO Confident About 4.2 Million-vehicle Sales

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

Last year, the Japanese car company Nissan Motor Company was overtaken by the Honda Motor Corporation for the distinction of being Japan’s second largest car manufacturer. This fact though has not stopped the company from proclaiming that they will aim to sell 4.2 million vehicles last fiscal year. Unfortunately though for Nissan, the lowered sales in Japan and the United States has led to a dismal sales output. In fact, the company recorded its first setback last fiscal year under its Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn.

Although the company failed to reach their mark and having admitted that they will need another year to achieve that goal, Ghosn is confident that the struggling Japanese car manufacturer will be able to reach their goal this time around.

One of the reasons for the declining sales for Nissan in the United States is the housing problems faced by many Americans. This problem has also led to declining sales for other car manufactures. In fact, even the surging Toyota suffered from a decreased number of sales last month.

Another reason for Nissan’s plunge is the lack of choices in their lineup. Nissan also offers fewer small cars in eth global auto market. It is one of the reasons for the declining Nissan sales since the increasing prices of gasoline has forced consumers to switch to smaller and more fuel efficient cars. Nissan though has taken steps to make sure that they will be in a position to provide consumers with smaller cars in the near future. This step to answer the demand for smaller cars is seen as the way for Nissan to achieve their 4.2 million vehicle sales target.

Showing confidence on the capabilities of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn has this to say: “4.2 million cars isn’t an objective in itself - the real objective is the creation of value - but I think it is within the potential of the company, not 10 years down the road but in a reasonable period of time.” He also maintained that he will not give up on the target that Nissan has set. He also stated that he has to accept the fact that they have lost a year in reaching their goal. It is of course the lowered sales in Japan and the United States that has affected Nissan the most.

To increase their productivity and sales, Nissan and alliance partner Renault has announced that they will be investing in India. Renault has already released the Logan vehicle in the said country. Nissan is also expected to increase their presence in India in the near future.

Nissan announced that they will be specifically producing small cars for the country. This step is taken as the Indian auto market showed increasing growth. Even Ford, General Motors, and Volkswagen have expressed their interest in the country’s auto market. With Nissan’s dedication to sell small car in India, it is expected that the country will soon have its streets packed with Nissan vehicles with their Nissan catalytic converter and what not.

While Nissan and Renault have already joined hands especially in the Indian auto market, there are talks about including another partner to the alliance. Last year, the alliance had talks with the largest car manufacturer in the world General Motors. The talks though came to an end after both parties disagreed on how to bring General Motors into the fold of the alliance. In India though, both companies are looking for Indian car manufacturers to become their partner as they increase their presence at the fourth largest Asian car market. If all goes well for Nissan in their bid to expand business in India and if they succeed in producing smaller cars to cater to the demand of consumers, it is just a matter of time before the Japanese car manufacture achieved its sales goal.

Nissan Increases Recycling Effort

Friday, May 23rd, 2008
nissan
RyanThomas asked:

Car manufacturers in recent years have become more environment friendly than they were before. This is because of the growing awareness in the global community which urges every sector to contribute to the protection of the environment. That is why clean cars have been developed to reduce the damage they caused to the environment.

Aside from developing these so-called green cars, car companies such as the Nissan Motor Company are looking for other ways to help the environment. In the case of the Japanese car manufacturer, they have created the Nissan Green Program 2010 which includes the steps that they are going to take to help the environment. The said program involves the production of fuel-efficient cars such as a three-liter car or a car that can run for a hundred kilometers on only three liters of gasoline. Aside from steps such as that, the program also includes the recycling of used cars.

Recently, the third largest Japanese car manufacturer disclosed information to the public of their progress in vehicle recycling. While the Nissan Green Program sets objectives to be accomplished by the year 2010, the company announced that they have already met one of their goals as early as the current year 2007. This is in the recycling of used cars. The recycling effort exerted by Nissan is in connection with the Japan Automobile Recycling Law which was enacted on January 1, 2005. The report made public by Nissan covered three different aspects of vehicle recycling. These three aspects are in the recycling of ASRs or Automobile Shredder Residues; airbag-related components; and fluorocarbons.

In the Nissan Green Program 2010, it is the company’s goal to recycle 95 percent of the used vehicles by the year 2010. The company is ahead of the legislation in Japan which will enforce the 85 percent recovery rate of used cars in terms of recycling by the year 2015. This shows how the company is concerned about the state of the environment. For the past year, Nissan reported that they have recycled 95,240.3 tons from 128,827.9 tons of ASR recovered. That amount of ASR is the product of shredding 635,440 vehicles. The figures show a recovery rate of 73.9 percent and that is higher than the 70 percent enforced by the law. In fact, this means that the company is already meeting government standards nine years before it will be enforced.

Meanwhile, the effective recycling recovery rate that Nissan reported is at 95.2 percent. This is a bit higher than the 95 percent that they have set to accomplish by the year 2010. Four years before the deadline, Nissan has already achieved one of their goals and it is a matter of refining the technologies they use to bring the effective recycling recovery rate to higher levels. This means that the residues from shredding various auto components such as Nissan fenders, hood, door panels, and other metallic and plastic parts are used by Nissan on new cars eliminating the need to deplete natural resources to create new components. Aside from these auto parts shredded, ASR also includes potentially harmful substances such as lead, cadmium and PCBs or Polychlorinated biphenyls. The proper recovery, handling and possible recycling of these substances is of utmost importance to protect the environment.

In terms of recycling airbag related components, Nissan reported that they have received 439,526 airbag related components from 229,048 vehicles. The recovery of these components involves the use of ELV or End of Life Vehicle recovery process as well as on-board deployment. The company reported that their recycling ratio for airbag related components reached a high of 94.3 percent. This means that they have far exceeded the 85 percent that they have set in the Nissan Green Program 2010.

As far as taking care of the fluorocarbons which are commonly found on the air conditioning unit of their vehicles is concerned, Nissan reported that they have collected 160,200 kilograms of fluorocarbons from 507,037 vehicles. These are then processed properly to ensure that it will not harm the environment.

All these recycling and recovery efforts cost Nissan 5,523,193,204 yen. While this may seem to be a big loss for the company, it is actually lower than the income generated which Nissan reported to be 5,642,113,359 yen. That means that the company is left with a net surplus of 118,920,115 yen.

With the current achievements by the car company, they have already exceeded the set standards by the government with time to spare. The company reported that they will continue their advances in recycling to reach 100 percent recycling. This means that 100 percent of the recovered ASR, airbag related components and fluorocarbons are utilized on new products. The Japanese car manufacturer also announced that they will be developing new technologies which will enable them to use recycled materials from End of Life Vehicles to new vehicles. The company is also aiming to make zero-landfill a possibility in Japan. The company will also be looking for ways to develop engineering steps to make vehicles easy to disassemble making easier to recycle them. This should be done in a way that the vehicle remains safe for everyday driving and especially safe from car thieves who are preying on any cars by stripping off various components.

With the increase in popularity of green cars such as gasoline-hybrid, plug-in and fully electric, and fuel cell vehicles, Nissan will be developing technologies to recycle these types of vehicles efficiently and effectively.

Nissan Wheels Exude Style and Quality

Saturday, May 17th, 2008
nissan
Glady Reign asked:

After more than seven decades in the automobile industry, Nissan Motor Company Ltd. has remained true to its goal in providing unique and innovative automotive products and services for its customers worldwide. Through the company’s alliance with the European automaker Renault, Nissan is more empowered in producing quality products and auto parts. The Nissan wheels, considered as basic parts of the vehicle, are manufactured to even exceed Nissan owners’ expectations.

The Japan-established automaker utilizes top-of-the-line materials for the Nissan wheels. Most modern vehicles, like Nissan trucks and cars, are manufactured with alloy wheels. These are wheels that are made from aluminum or magnesium metal alloy. Aside from being light, alloy wheels are noticeably far better than the normal steel wheels. They are better heat conductors which improve heat dissipation from the brakes. Thus Nissan vehicles have lesser chances of brake failures because of these improved wheels. Moreover, they make the vehicle look more sleek and stylish. Nissan wheels, whether regular or alloy, have the primary function of allowing a vehicle to move forward. They are also tasked to carry the weight of the whole vehicle, including the passengers.

Getting the correct details is important in purchasing Nissan wheels. One cannot just buy any wheels because every vehicle has varying specifications. For starters, one should know the correct diameter and width of Nissan wheels needed for the vehicle. If these vital measurements are not acquired, there is a big possibility of getting the wrong set of Nissan wheels. When this happens, money is not the only thing wasted, but time and effort as well.

When the time comes that replacing the wheels is needed, it is a must that owners are knowledgeable on what type or kind of Nissan wheels perfectly fit in the vehicle. Wheels vary in a lot of aspects such as size and make. They depend greatly on the demand or duty of the vehicle. For example, Nissan truck tires and wheels fulfill different needs compared to the wheels of smaller Nissan cars. More than jazzing up the look of the vehicle, the wheels’ contribution in the vehicle’s total balance and powerful performance should be prioritized.
