Mark asked:

I have a crimp mark around a red fusible link wire that is giving me an intermittent no start. The last time i tried to start it it took about fifteen times to get it to turn over. Would i be able to splice that wire together using a twist nut? I’m debating whether to donate the truck to the Caner Society or trade it in. I have loved the truck, but it is almost 19 years old and has a center bearing that is going ( sqealing when under load ) and would need a lot of frame work to replace the bearing ( my mechanic said it would cost $1000 to $1500 to fix the frame to replace the center bearing ) so i’m trying to fix the fusible link untill i can make up my mind on what i want to do. I know using the twist nut to splice the wire would be a temporary fix, but i would like to do it myself and not put more money into it if i’m going to sell it soon. I have been to 2 salvage yards and didn’t find any fusiable links there. Thank you for any help you can give me! 1988 Nissan 4×4 SE King Cab

You can get replacement fusible links at pretty much any auto parts store. I would say replace the link, dont try to splice it, or by pass it. While your at it, you might want to find the reason the link blew in the first place. If you don’t, you’ll just keep blowing the new links.

it’s simple cut the link out and replace it a standard fuse nad holder , go with a 15 amp fuse 250v this way if it blows you can just keep them handy

Don’t use a twist nut. Soldier it together and use electrical tape to tape it up!!!
